    Jai and Jay-ellen Wright

Jesus Light House has grown out of the ministry of Jai and Jay-ellen Wright in Mackay, Queensland. They moved to Mackay in 2011 to plant a new church family and since that time they have linked arms with other followers of Jesus in the region and beyond, to pursue Jesus Christ and to allow God's will to be done through them, by the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.

Having sown God's Word into the lives of people over the last 15 years, they have seen God developing 'good soil', hearts which hear the word of God, 'accept it, and produce a crop - some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown' (Mark 4:20). As God has begun to shine His light in Mackay and beyond, through the various organisations Jai and Jay-ellen are involved with (eg. Hope's Dream, Christian RI, Mackay Churches Together), God has led them to also create Jesus Light House to provide a home for various Christian events, ministries and church families.

  • Our Vision

    Knowing Jesus

We share the Apostle Paul's heart, where he says,

'I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.' (Philippians 3:10-12)

Accepting the Word of God and Bearing Fruit

As we hear God's Word, we don't want satan to snatch it away, or persecution to scorch it, or riches and worries about this world to choke it out. Instead, we want to hear the word of God, accept it, and yield a great harvest (see Mark 4).

    Worship and Word

We believe in listening to God as He speaks (Hebrews 4:7, 12; 12:15) and also drawing near to God through the way opened by our great High Priest Jesus (Hebrews 4:16), worshipping God with thankful hearts and songs of praise (Hebrews 12:28; 13:15). We depend on God's Word and God's Spirit. We believe in drawing near to God, while also letting God draw near to us (James 4:8).

A Plan For the Poor and Oppressed

'If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness,

and your night will become like the noonday' (Isaiah 58:9-10) God has given us a plan for the poor and the oppressed and we hope that you have one too!

    A House of Prayer

Jesus said, 'My house will be called a house of prayer' (Matthew 21:13). Jesus Light House has been built on a foundation of repentance and prayer. We are excited to continue following God's lead by His Holy Spirit, as Jesus builds His church.

Open To All God's Good Gifts

God is a giver of good gifts (James 1:17). We are willing for God to renew our minds (Ephesians 4:23), so that we can receive all His good gifts. This includes the gift of one another in the church. 'So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and the teachers...' (Ephesians 4:11)

  • Our Values

    One Another

We value one another as fellow members of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:25; 1 Corinthians 12). This means we speak truthfully to one another in direct communication, we don't slander one another and we value the gifts and different perspectives that one another offer.

    God's Presence

We are conscious not to grieve (Ephesians 4:30), quench (1 Thessalonians 5:19-22) or preempt (Galatians 5:26; Genesis 16:2) the Holy Spirit. Instead, we wait on (Galatians 5:25), worship by (Philippians 3:3) and bear the fruits of (Galatians 5:22-23) the Holy Spirit.

    The Blood of Jesus

We recognise that forgiveness and freedom come only by the power of the precious blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross for us (Ephesians 4:32; Galatians 5:24). Our access to God is by the way opened by Jesus through His death (Hebrews 9:14).

    Perseverance

As dearly loved children of our Heavenly Father, we persevere through trials, testing, hardship and persecution, knowing God's loving discipline and forging of our faith for His glory (James 1:2-4; 1 Peter 1:6-7; Romans 5:3-5; Hebrews 12:4-17). We embrace situations where we are in need, fasting, and seeking the face of our Heavenly Father, knowing that He is the Giver of all good gifts.

    The Word

We evaluate our experiences not using the world's perspective, but reliant on the Word of God (Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 4:17-24; Hebrews 4:12). We recognize that this is a spiritual exercise, letting the spirit of our minds to be renewed by God (Ephesians 4:23).

    Awareness of the Spiritual Battle

We are in a spiritual war against Satan, the enemy of our souls, and we live with a watchful attentiveness of this spiritual battle (Ephesians 4:27; 6:10ff).

    Generosity

In obedience to God, we sow out love, money, energy, God's word, service to others - trusting God to reap a harvest of the same in return (Ephesians 4:28-29; Galatians 6:7-10; 1 Corinthians 9:6-11).
